04 Oct 2007
On the 5th, 6th & 7th of October 2007 the P.B. & P.A. of Illinois will hold its 71st Annual Convention. This year’s event will be co-hosted by Bloomington Unit # 21 and Normal Unit # 22.
In accordance with the By-Laws of the P.B. & P.A. elections are to be held every two years for all positions on the State Board and this year is an election year. As President of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association, I believe it is essential that we obtain a position on the Executive Board of the P.B. & P.A. to ensure that the interests of our members are represented at the state level. With the support of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association (Unit 156A) and in conjunction with the Chicago Lieutenants’ Association (Unit 156B) and the Chicago Captains’ Association (Unit 156C), I plan on seeking a position on the Executive Board of the P.B. & P.A. at this year’s convention.
Sincerely,
John Pallohusky
President
Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association

You know, it's funny to read all these negative comments about Pallohusky running the PBPA and still working in Area 4. If the man makes a little extra, Godbless him. I don't see anyone else trying to take over his position. Pallohusky, keep up the good work.
From a newly appointed Sergeant who had the pleasure of working with you during the training.
From SSC:
. . . "We hear merit nominations are out for Lieutenant. Since they've screwed up the most recent exam for the THIRD time in a row, we can only deduce that they are taking a last set of names from the old list. Starks must want to get his "mericloutorious" choices in while he has the power. We can hardly wait for the picks."

I understand, nobody wants the job. Perhaps nobody should get my $25.00 a paycheck
If in fact the new lieutenant’s exam is thrown out, a class action lawsuit should be filed to recover the $25.00 that everyone paid. ($25 x 740 Sergeants = $18,500)
PLUS all the money some of us dumb-asses paid for study groups; for Bernstein and Roberts that total is over $1500 a person.
Insiders down at Legal Affairs on the 5th floor state that in the future, Lieutenants will be chosen just as Captains are.
The question is, would the city have to pay each member in the lieutenants union a “payoff” of say $5,000 each to agree to this. About 10 years ago, this is what they did to the remaining “real” civil service Captains. In the end, the city may look at this as a savings in the future. They would not have to pay hundreds of thousands to develop and administer any exams.
HOWEVER, to say the least it would destroy morale and give us a total of at least 260 suck ass - company men.
good point- at the time- If I remember correctly there were only 7 captains department wide and only one in the patrol division....and if this memory is accurrate- I think they were paid $17,000 each...
255 lts x $5000= $370,000 vs $5 m (and up) for new tests....
City's bargain!
Deos anyone know if retired police capt. Bill Olsen is still alive? I last heard he was living in Fla. some place?
