GRILL THE COMMANDER

City to investigate Tunney cell-phone ticket incident
Chicago police said today they will investigate whether any city policy was violated in returning a driver's license to a Chicago alderman who was ticketed for using a hand-held cellular phone while driving.

According to Monique
"An officer issued a citation to an elected official, and he accepted the ticket," Bond said. "The issue here is whether everything was properly done after that."

Police were waiting to interview Town Hall District Cmdr. Gary Yamashiroya, who has gone on scheduled furlough since the incident last week, Bond said.

Hows that furlough going Commander?

Tunney's office tries to get in front of this one
In a statement released by Tunney's office this morning, the alderman said he phoned the commander after returning to his office to question "why, in an understaffed police district where we have serious crimes unsolved, officers are assigned to pull people over solely for cell phone violations."

"Although I did not ask him to, following our conversation the commander had my driver's license returned to me at my office," Tunney said. "I must emphasize that at no time did I ask for any special treatment."

A few points to note:
1. Does the Alderman advocate all citizens call the Commander's office after being ticketed or is that "special treatment" reserved for elected officials only?
2. He knows the district is understaffed. How many other Alderman know this about their districts?

3. Serious crimes are investigated by Area Detectives not patrolmen in a beat car.
4. I'd be willing to bet the farm that the officers "duties" for the day weren't " to pull people over solely for cell phone violations."

The Alderman emphasized that he didn't ask for any special treatment but the fact that he called to bitch out the Commander resulted in his D/L being hand delivered to his office. By the way, the license was hand delivered by an officer in an understaffed district while serious crimes go unsolved.
Alderman Tunney you sir are nitwit!
Second City Cop has already made it clear that they will keep an eye on the officer for any retaliation.

Aldermen have great power. Ask anyone in 025 about "Ray Saurez" He runs it.

let's get rid of 30 alderman , city truck drivers that do nothing but sit in truck while the laborers do all the work and that 911 center is loaded with political hacks
then we won't need all the extra taxes in the city
same with county
us police are the only one's that generate revenue for the city tickets, tows, etc and we don't have a contract

"why, in an understaffed police district where we have serious crimes unsolved, officers are assigned to pull people over"

Thats funny, thats the #1 complaint I get when we have to conduct seatbelt missions. Maybe we need to catch some alderperson in the big seatbelt dragnet to finally end these screw the public and generate revenue missions. Now thats a real waste of manpower. The best part about all this is that it is only being investigated after it was posted on the blogs.

I hope all of you realize that when you do a seatbelt mission we DO NOT have to write any tickets. A simple "Goodmorning sir/ma'am, are you aware you must wear a seatbelt when you operate a motorvehicle? Have a nice day" is all that is required. Why be a pimp for the city? Where is it written that we MUST write them a citation. Don't be a part of the mayors plan to turn us from a Police Department into a revenue collection agency. Personally, that's what happens when I run a SBEM. My guys know my take on this BS and are glad for it.

PS. To quote Chief of Detectives Maria Maher when she was a Deputy Chief in Area 5, " Seatbelt missions should not be run just for the sake of running them. They should only be used as a response to a shooting".

His employees are always complaining about all the unlicensed, illegal renovations Tunney gets away with doing in his restaurants because of his position. And now he's complaining about getting a lousy ticket for a law he voted for. The nerve of some people.

SOMEBODY SHOULD TELL ALDERMAN TUNNEY THAT POLICE PULL OVER PEOPLE ALL DAY DURING THEIR TOUR OF DUTY. YES, THE 23RD DISTRICT IS EXPIENCING CRIME, BUT SOMETIMES OUR ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOPS RESULT IN THE TIMOTHY MC VEIGH'S OF THE WORLD GETTING ARRESTED. INCIDENTALLY, FOR THOSE THAT FORGOT, MC VEIGH PARTICIPATED IN THE OKLAHOMA BOMBING. ALDERMAN TUNNEY: PLEASE GET A BLUETOOTH AND LET THIS MEDIA NONSENSE PASS. NO GO GET US A CONTRACT!

This copper needs to get a par form and move to the WEST SIDE where he will be quite overwhelmed with REAL CRIME every night right in front of him. Doesnt he fucking know when to simply give a warning. Just look at all the shit he caused. The WC in 023 is a good man and so is the Alderman, the copper needs to get "launched".

The cell phone incident in 023 is much ado about nothing.

How about 24th Ward Ald. Sharon Dixon putting a brick on Off. Danny Ward for doing his job?

Lets all pray that Kevin M from 009 does not get promoted.
