Lt’s Promotion Exam: UPDATE 12 October 07
Once again, the City of Chicago and the Department have further complicated the lieutenant’s exam promotional process. On Friday, 5 October 2007 the Department announced that it would begin the process for merit nominations for the position of lieutenant from the 2002 eligibility list. On Thursday, 11 October 2007 this announcement was rescinded pending the issuance of the test results from the 2006 Lieutenant’s Examination Test.

The unfortunate aspect of this current situation is that it serves to further divide and demoralize our members who are affected by their placement on the 2002 promotional list, as well as our members who are awaiting the results of the 2006 examination. The Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association, along with our attorneys have continually argued the fairness issues of certain portions of the 2006 examination process. During the recent months we have continually demanded that the City either release the test results or provide an explanation as to the reasons for the delay. It is now anticipated that the 2006 test results will be issued in the near future.

It has been and remains the position of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association to encourage the Department and City to maintain full staffing of these positions in order to provide the best possible service to the citizens that our members serve on a 24/7 basis.

John Pallohusky
President
Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association

Those of us who were within striking distance of making Lieutenant and would have without the clout babies getting their merit are the biggest losers here.

How can the people who make these decisions sleep at night?

Why as a patrol officer do I not hear about "our attorney's" form the F.O.P. pushing the city to push for resolution in our contrct when it involves disputes. I want to see the promotion list, I want to know who makes what legit and who has been made merit. That would be a nice start. Sadly we get what we pay for. Waiting on my stripes.

What is the "near future??"

Knowing our command staff, "near future" could be years away.

State Law says the City does not have to publish such a list.

The corrupt Circuit Court & State of Illinois back it.

Are you interested in challenging this or are you just willing to let the city get away with this???

And thanks to some clout baby who has started a war between sergeants they might not promote for a long time............

They sleep VERY well because they have the same psych profile as Gacy,Dalhmer,Bundy,Speck,Ing,Kulinski.

The PBPA and the other 'unions', need to find a pr firm who'd like to do a little pro bono work or at least who'd discount their fees for the police. The PR firm could sell the real story of the majority of decent officers and how much good they do. It would also counter the negativity of the media. The police did it in Albuquerque and got results- why not here?

Then the next thing would be to explain to the tax payers that the city spends 5 million dollars to hire less than two hundred personnel for the position of lt. Then add in what it costs when po-s sgts and lts (shakman etc) have to sue to right the city's corrupt practices.

How happy would they be with Mayor Nonsense?

UPDATE:
I sat in front of my house all day and night . . It is now XXXX and the mailman just came. He’s says the post office is short manpower here in Chicago also so tough shit if I don’t like it.

The LTs test results DID NOT come. However I received my information from Benefits Management who state in so many words that the dental/medical coverage will get even WORSE.

I now have a great incentive to do even LESS when I go back to work tomorrow. THANK YOU Mr. Mayor! Now kiss my ass and watch me go so fucking slow I’ll be going in reverse!
