JOE THE VET

This American Hero, Sgt Joe Cook, is from the Chicago area. The video wasn't produced by a slick advertising firm or funded by any political action committee. No, it was made by a guy who felt it was important to get his message out about the war and the service and sacrifice of our troops.
Thanks Joe

Sarge,

I saw this video about a month ago and it touches me just as much now as it did then.

Thank you to all the brave men and women who have served, are serving and will serve in the future.

Thank you for posting this, SCS. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Take care and be safe out there.

Free at Last Free at Last. Thank GOD Almighty we now have a competent President who won as a result of a fair and just election. How about that, the man won blue collar white votes in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Latino votes in Florida. GOD Bless America

I could, but I think I'll leave it awhile just to piss you off.

Really? I see how it is. You loose an election, 2000/2004, it was stolen. You win an election,2008, it was just and fair.
Please!

That's right, Dog: God Bless America. No more "God Damn America" from your phony preachers. You are FREE at last. But one thing you're about to discover is someting us blue collar white voters have known all along - all that freedom comes with GREAT responsiblity.

Gone are the days when you can blame "whitey" for ANYthing. Gone are the days when Dummycrats can blame someone else for their failures. And gone are all the excuses for bad behavior - like the phony CR's where Joe claims "the white po-lice done called me a nig---."

Racism's dead Big Dog - and along with it died all the excuses you've been throwing out for over 100 years. Now it's all on you; so just for starters, start explaining why you turn beautiful neighborhoods into shithole slumlands; and how about the careless breeding of legions of ignorant schoolkids into shiftless gangbangers; and while you're at it can you justify all the worthless welfare queens?

Get on it, Dog. Now you're going to have to be a father, not just babydaddy. Your kids will have to attend school and get an education. You will all have to start earning your way instead of running your mouths about slavery and how "whitey" is holding you down.

See, Dog, us white voters never had anyone else to blame. That's why you don't see us standing outside the liquor stores all afternoon or stoned on Lake Street or shitfaced on Western at 3 AM every night.

Time for you and yours to man up now, Dog. We hope, for your sake and ours, that you and yours are FINALLY up to it. (But we aren't holding our breath.)

Sarge,
You even you gotta admit Obama won a broad cross section of the electorate. There was not one economic, racial, or ethnic strata that was not well represented in the vote totals. On top of that there were no lawsuits etc. This was a mandate. My generation may have its own Ronald Reagan, named Barrack Obama. GOD Bless you SCS and I hope that you and our fellow members of the Chicago Police Police Department are always protected by GOD, duly acknowledged by the Public, and handsomely rewarded by City Hall for our brave service and selfless sacrifice. One thing for sure racism as an excuse for failure should be outlawed, because America led the way in demonstrating we lead the world because we are the best example of Democracy! So please forgive me for atlking a lil bit of BS.

Yeah, fair.

I guess the ultra-leftist Hollywood and Media establishment offering coverage and entertainment that was defacto non-stop campaigh ads for Barack or Barry or whatever his real name is, couched in guise of news or entertainment were fair.

Sure.

Whatever, not my president. Good luck, shouldn't everything be better today?

Is that satire, or do you eat your own feces?

Just wondering?

Not really true, SCS. Many votes weren't counted in Florida in 2000.
LOTS of votes. The situation was so bad that the Supreme Ct. had to decide the winner. So you can't compare what happened in 2008 with 2000. After 8 years of GWB, what logical person wouldn't want change? Face it, Obama was simply the better candidate. Palin brought NOTHING to McSame's campaign. Don't be a sore loser; this country has to come together to get out of the mess we have allowed to occur under Bush's tenure.
With regard to racism...Please don't anyone assume that because a man of color will sit in the white house early next year that "that's over." We've had four black Supts. of Police here at the CPD, (Rice, Nolan, Martin and Hillard)and as anyone who reads the Chicago cop blogs can attest, racism is still very much alive and well here. I doubt much has changed in other parts of this country.

You might very well be surprised. The northern cities are where its worst, still. In defense of those in northern cities, they have had to deal with the bulk of the problems attendant to the migrations of poor people from the south in the last century.

Where I'm at might not be the norm, but in one evening in a town center, you might see an interracial couple of open-carry NRA members openly carrying past immigrants from all over the world and transplants from all over the country. Granted, this particular area is among the wealthiest and most educated in the country, but its a 180 from what you see and how I feel in Chicago.

I tell people visiting from Chicago that, except for Richmond and DC, you can drive aimlessly for hours and not really fear getting caught in a bad neighborhood where people will kill you for nothing more than how you look.

Which in some small way is to say... its a bit of a circle. Do blacks have to quit committing such disproportionate numbers of crimes for people to quit treating them with suspicion and disdain, or must the latter happen first for the former to happen?

Not sure how it happened, but here the blacks (again, outside of DC and Richmond) are not such a disproportionate cause of crime, and in turn they are not treated by almost anyone with suspicion and disdain as in Chicago.

It took some time to get used to, but after awhile out here you don't really look at anyone or anything funny just because of the color of their skin or who they are with.

Hi SCS,
This is my first time on this site. I was hoping this would not be as biased of a site as SCC, I see I was wrong. That is clearly a biased view and an advertisement for Mc Cain. How can you find one point and try and justify why you support a candidate. I am not black, but I am an American and I am a retired female Marine. I have also taken the time to review both candidates and actually review various plans that directly impact us, the supposedly middle class population. I have also carefully reviewed the voting history and the policies of both candidates. I think you should have done the same.

Thank goodness the citizens of this great country were not as narrow minded and unintelligent as you.

God Bless President Obama!!!

First of all madam, this is a blog not a newspaper. I am a partisan conservative and make no qualms about it. You're damn right I'm bias. Unlike newspapers who purport to be objective, HAH!!!, I make no such claim.
Second, the war was only one issue not the the single issue that made McCain my choice for president. I would say McCain was far from a perfect choice for me but compared to any liberal democrat he was the only choice.
And finally, his title is President Elect! His inauguration isn't until January 20th.
Since you are retired you may want to take a civics class.

No matter how you try to justify your point, millions did not agree thank goodness. He will still fight for the simple minded as you. He is still the President of the United States of America!!! You and those miserable people like you will just have to deal with it.

I guess you really need a history lesson. Why don't you review Mc Cain's history and believe it or not, you will think you are just looking at BUSH. The same idiot who stole the Presidency and screwed our country up so bad, that 3rd world nations fair better than we.

Thank goodness I saw this coming and I am happily laughing all the way to the bank, how about you?

Regardless of how you reference him, he is still President. President Obama, President Elect Obama, Mr. President Obama, all the same.

We finally have a chance to get our country back on track. Are people like you going to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution?

I have dealt with it. I accept that a majority of the electorate voted for Barak Obama. Unlike you and your ilk who continue to charge that Bush stole the election despite all evidence to the contrary.
3rd world nations fair better than we do? Are you kidding? Have you ever been to a 3rd world nation? Enough with the hyperbole! Or do you really believe that? If so, then you are a fucking moron!
By the way, as President Elect Obama stated in his November 7 press conference " there is only one President at a time, I am not the President until January 2oth"
Is it clear now or does your hate get in the way to learning?

In other words, "Whitey" is still the reason why you won't take ANY responsibility for ANYthing you do.

You are correct, Dog. Racism is very much alive - but it isn't coming from whites - there is no race on Earth more racist than the blacks/Africans/whatever you wanna be called - and you all know it. Get on it, Dog. Until you people wise up and get over your false excuses - you will NEVER get anywhere.

One more thing, Dog. Obama is a half white man raised by two white people. Could that have anything to do with his success???!!! Oh gosh, there I go being RACIST again!!!
