GOD BLESS

It is a rare moment when I can I say that I feel for the Mayor but in this instance I chose to show my respect.
"Every day a policeman gets up and their wife and their children look at them and they are put in harm's way. Every time a fireman goes to work, they are put in harm's way. Every time a young man or woman in the military is put in harm's way . . . that is part of joining the military. We understand that. And that is part of the mission in regards to bringing democracy and safety against terrorism, not only here in the United States but throughout the world."

Richard Daley, when asked about the risk that goes with being a soldier

The Mayor's son, Patrick, is an enlisted member of the 82nd Airborne and a graduate of the University of Chicago. Patrick could have easily taken the route to become a commissioned officer, however he not only enlisted but he chose to became a paratrooper. On Tuesday the Mayor announced that his son was being deployed.
The mayor's eyes welled up with tears once Tuesday when he said his son "is honored to serve this great country."

As a father who has a child presently serving in our Armed Forces my thoughts and prayers to the Daley family and all the families of those serving.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

It is the most decent thing that man has ever said.

Father to father, I can relate.

Whats the REAL reason behind the mayors son enlisting??

Mayor Daley,

Your son's high integrity and personal responsibility to our country is commendable. When your son gets back, it would be with great respect that we vote him into office of mayor---Mayor Daley, maybe you should take lessons from your son!
God Speed Patrick!

He's being groomed for his Daddy's position or something better in politics. Don't be fooled by his "good intentions". What better person to put in office than a "war hero?" In the meantime, maybe he'll have an opportunity to serve this country well.

If his son gets more then 10 Disciplinary beefs in the service will they be made public knowledge?

Take it for what its worth guys. The kid has a degree from U of C and could have easily worked in the business world until he was ready to assume a political role. He didn't. He chose to enlist. And for that he has my respect.
I am by no means an apologist for the Mayor but lets be honest here. The mayor has objected to the public disclosure of names of officers with 10 cr's.

Do not fall for this SCSGT...DO NOT.

He was stationed at the 82nd since he got out of basic/AIT, well over 3 years, and he NEVER was deployed before....

That is some heavy, heavy clout working behind that REMF. Now he is going overseas, after 3 years in the 82nd?

I do not wish anything bad, I am just pointing out things that would be obvious to the normal working GI. I think Pat will be fine, doing a REMF job for a year, out of harms way, and he will return to the city as a "war hero" all for his future in politics.

Thanks for the warning but I am not naive, as a matter of fact I am prior service. I'm just willing to give him the benifit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

Thank-You SCS, God Bless the USA and all of her protectors and defenders!!!

Yep, nobody can ever say that Richie doesn't have the 'crocodile tears' thing down pat.

He could never have done all the things that he's done without being a highly skilled, pathological liar.

I'll bet the only times he's cried real tears is when his wayward son has come close to really being tagged for the many criminal acts he has assuredly committed.

Guys like Richie will sometimes have the words right, it's just the actions that are always reliably wrong.

If this were true, and I'm not saying it isn't, you'd think that he, and his daddy, would understand that this form of running away will, in no way, result in his avoiding indictment.

Unless, of course, his daddy's trips to Europe have been to establish some sort of clandestine 'sanctuary' for the kid......

Fuck him. The kid was known as such an asshole in the city the only way he could reform his reputation was to join a service and come back a "war hero", this would be the last impression the public had before he runs to replace daddy. Don't think for a minute he will ever be deployed to anywhere he will be in any real danger. Lets not forget his assholery antics every weekend on Rush street or the hate crime he comitted at Daddy's summer home that was "went away". And don't give me the BS about going to UofC, anyone with a phone call as heavy as his gets accepted. If he was really that sharp he would have stuck it out at West Point, but I forgot, daddy's clout doesn't go that far and he would actually have to work to succeed, so fuck that - he was gone before a year was up. Do not be fooled, this is all more Daley family antics to set up their next move. I am glad by the time he is in office I will be long gone.

I really think the G can grab a guy in the US military if true. So sucks to the run-away idea.

well, kudos to the military but anyone w/military background knows he's most likely in some fluff position or less dangerous area...

So now all you have to do is join the Military and that makes you a war hero????

Looks like Baby Daley's military career is going much the way of our beloved President's. When he gets out, no one will quite know where he served, and what jobs he held down in the military. And he'll ride his anonymous career all the way to the great hallowed Hall of Clark St.
This is Chicaguh! Gotta love it!!

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
