JUST CANT LOOSE THAT GHETTO

Jeremiah Mearday is in the news again. Via the Tribune
In October 2005, the Chicago City Council approved the award to Mearday (1.75 million dollars)

Jeremiah Mearday, 29, pleaded guilty in 2006 to selling crack to an undercover police officer in Glendale Heights.(note: the arrest occured in Dec 05, two months after his award)

DuPage Judge George Bakalis sentenced him to 2 years of intensive probation and 180 days in the DuPage County Jail.(Wonder what the outcome would have been in Cook County)

Assistant State's Atty. Paul Marchese filed a notice of violation of probation earlier this year, contending that Mearday missed seven months of meetings with the probation department, failed a drug test that indicated the use of marijuana, refused to take another drug test and didn't have a job for a year, as stipulated by his probation requirements.

An assistant public defender was appointed earlier this year by Bakalis to represent Mearday after the defendant claimed he was broke. Mearday again said Monday that he was broke after Marchese asked Bakalis to charge the defendant for the use of the public defender.

If Mearaday split the award with his lawyer then he should have had approximately $875,000. That is more than 10 years pay for the average sergeant in this city and asshole is already broke in two and a half years.

Judge Bakalis sentenced Mearady to 4 years for violating his probation.

Lets get something straight here. The Trib claims Mearady "won a $1.75 million settlement after being beaten by Chicago police officers in 1997". No! The settlement wasn't because he was beaten but because it is expedient and it is how the city does business.

Glendale Heights--excellent place for a piece of shit like him.

Those cops in 025 got screwed in 97 due to a badly written case report. The whole car was fired, not just the two that were working that night. The third guy got canned too.

Not a bright move on his part; DuPage County takes law breaking seriously, unlike Cook County.

Just not on the case report but they should of put everything out on the table. If they were in a heated fight with a shithead you use any tools at your disposal, including your mag light. You have to justify it on paper. Finally they should of called the shit head a ambulance instead of panicking and driving him to the firehouse. If they would of done those think they might of took some time but not fired.

Put it out there any way you like, SCS. With a broken jaw and the denial about the flaslight being used, however you feel about Mearday the drug dealer, I think the city got off cheap. Can you imagine how much would be paid out today, after all the crap that's been aired in the media about our Dept. in the past two years?
Four years isn't enough, but very few people in Cook Cty. get that time in court handed down for deliveries to the PoPo. Imagine how stupid he must feel right now.
Broke AND locked up!

John Murphy was innocent and hung out to dry to appease a certain segment...The CPD headed downhill real fast after that...

We let it happen and now coppers are being fired frequently that are innocent.

Let one innocent man hang and they will hang us all...

You might just be next at the Gallows, think about it.

I know this guy personally and racist ass cops have been harassing him every since he got that settlement. Have u insensitive bastards even seen the pics of what they did to him? I saw first and it was devasting. I guess the rights of blacks dont even matter in this state or even this country. As a matter of fact when has it ever mattered

SCS- any news about our union's response to the FOP's agreement that officers need to past a fitness test for promotion? Second city cops has the info anf link....what's the PBPA doing about it? Did anyone notice no one is grandfathered in and it starts January 2009?

Get your slim fast ready!

Off Topic: The Sgts association has a post stating they will soon be going to court over the LT test. Was'nt this already dismissed. I scored well enough to eventually get promoted, between this and the city's fitness standard I don't think I'll ever see the Lt bars. you take a test, study and follow the rules and they keep moving the finish line. I have over twenty years on and am still in good shape, but I am not crazy about the idea of having to pass a fitness test to sit in the WC chair. Curious to see how others feel.

I agree. This is total bs about having to pass the power test to get promoted. Are they going to have you sign a waiver for it?? Thats why I quit taking the money tesr.

so you know when he has crack on him it is illegal? The police find criminals. That is the job. The criminal just happens to be black and your friend.

I have noticed the huge payouts to blacks across the nation for being criminals and getting away with it, and hundreds of cases thrown out of in the courts upon black defendants.

Blacks have equal rights. Keep living the lie, myth, and misconception.

SCS, I'm willing to bet the comment one poster put here that you reprinted claiming he knows Mearday personally, etc. was in fact written by a white officer to elicit the kinds of racist diatribe that is normally posted on the other blog. You'd have been better off leaving that off your blog. One thing I like about this blog is that rarely is our embarrassing garbage allowed to see the light of day here. Please continue to uphold that tradition of SCS.

To: The above

I had considered not publishing that comment for various reasons.
I did receive a few comments that I deemed inappropriate for publication.

Thanks for the kind words and your continued support.

Gosh, what a surprise that little Jeremiah has again been arrested!!!!! Even more surprising is the fact that he has no funds available to hire counsel NOT!!! One cannot escape one's nature.

What a shame that our City will not back up it's peacekeepers in the Civil Courts.

I was fortunate during my career that I seldom found it necessary to get physical with my arrestees, but the public needs to wake up to the fact that not every thug goes willingly to jail. Wonder if the Garden Gnome which occupies the big office on the fifth floor of City Hall has ever gone on a ride-along and seen what occurs on his City's streets. Nah, that would be too much like right.

I thank God every day that I was able to retire three years ago and I pray that all of you who still fight the good fight, remain safe from the thugs and, especially, from the Gnome.

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
