WTF IS GOING ON IN 4?

On Sunday morning around 4:30 am a member of the Chicago Fire Department's (OFI) was shot while investigating an arson at 80th place near Exchange in the 4th district.
The incident was the first time that a firefighter had been shot and wounded since about 1968, said Fire Commissioner Raymond Orozco. Paramedics have been shot at over the years, but department officials could not recall any being hit. Tribune

I hear that TRU was deployed to the 4th district, 5th district and 7th district. My question is, why wasn't the whole unit deployed to the 4th district in light of the attempt murder of a firemen? That place should have been put on lock down. However, the DOC rules the day, as does the lack of inititive, and the black BDUs were sent to their assigned level 2's.
Well at 10:00 pm on sunday less than a mile from where the firemen was shot.....
Three men were found shot to death late Sunday in what Chicago police said appeared to be a drug-related attack on the city's South Side.

The bodies of three adults were discovered at about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 7800 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood after police received a call about gunfire, Officer David Banks said. Their ages and identities were not immediately released.

"Right now, it's unclear if all three victims were shot inside that location," Banks said. "It appears one was found in the vestibule area of the residence and may have staggered out."

He said preliminary reports suggest that the slayings may have been drug-related.

The building where the bodies were found was less than a mile from where a Chicago Fire Department arson investigator was shot and wounded early Sunday morning as he inspected an alley where a Molotov cocktail had been tossed against a house.

The resident of that home lamented a recent rise of violence in the neighborhood, which she blamed on gang violence....Tribune

So since they can't stop killing each other in the 4th district, 5 cars from the 22nd district, including 2211, were detailed to 004. The residents of 22 should be up in arms over this.
Thanks to a south side sergeant for the heads up on this.
This also has ramifications for the residents of 16 when shit jumps off in 25 or 15.

The officers that work in 004 are doing the work they are being asked to do. There are too many gangs and gang conflicts currently going on in 004 right now. So many that the people in 004 can't keep track of them. It is a perfect storm of sorts. I don't like the idea of cars from 022 coming there, but 004 does need the help. All outside units from narcotics to organized to TRU should be detailed there for a while to try and slow down this fight. It is just going to get uglier I feel.

This wasn't like that when SOS was around. SOS kept them in check and made them think twice about popping off. I say let it all burn down. Then the re-building can begin.

I agree with 10:54am. The coppers are doing a great job, espically on the third watch. The problem is shortage of manpower. On any given night, there are only 2 or 3 rapid cars working. Given the summer's shooting events, we get one or two shot and the district shuts down. No cars to answer the calls. Supervisors are now beat cars and the great citizen's complaints go through the roof. 004 needs help and we need it bad!!! The Superintendant needs to send some troops to man the cars. TRU needs to start doing their job and answer some of the priorty 1 jobs in the DOC! I have worked in 004 for some time now and it has never been this bad. WE NEED HELP!!!!!!

Send Sgt. Stacey the Stripper back to 004. Maybe she can motivate the troops, or at least the gangbangers!

004 needs to deploy multiple South African Trojan Horses.

To 10:54:00am- - - Are you serious?
"...I don't like the idea of cars from 022 coming there, but 004 does need the help." To hell with 004 and the non-tax-paying savages that insist on killing each other. How about all of the wives and babies that are in their homes on beat 2211 while their husbands and fathers are trying to control the animals elswhere?! Don't they need the help? You've lost your marbles if you think for one second that keeping the peace in some ghetto is worth the sacrifice being made, UNVOLUNTARILY and UNKNOWINGLY, by decent citizens. Yes, the officers need assistance and outside units should saturate the warzones, but don't dare take what little resources we have in our neck of the woods. Just because our children play softball and hopscotch instead of pitching dope and throwing rounds, does that mean that we are not entitled to even miminal police presence? Give me a break. You are a boob. I certainly hope that the powers-that-be put a quick end to this BS. I don't give a damn if I'm assigned to the North Shore, the next time they remove the bulk of the officers assigned to my beat, I'll be parked on my own block in 022 for my entire tour.

Get over it, SCS. 004 needs all the help it can get right now.
We used to be able to quash this nonsense, but the old "tools" we had to work with we can no longer use. And the hoodlums know it!
Resources are going to have to be diverted to 004 until things calm down. I'm willing to bet that 004 will be the District where the next Police shooting occurs.
Everybody's on edge out there right now, cops and the bad guys.
Back each other up, especially in the 20 sector of 004.

You see you fucked up and believed the bullshit that Eugene Williams put out there. Williams told all the area two district commanders that TRU would be answering priority 1 jobs in the DOC.
Here is some news for you....it is not the job of TRU to answer calls in the DOC. Just like it is not the job of A2 Sat teams to answer calls or A2 gun teams to answer calls or A2 midnight gang teams to answer calls or gang intel to answer calls or any other outside unit to answer calls in the DOC. Your own gang and tact teams better answer calls long before an outside unit does.
If you have a problem with that then go cry to Dana Alexander and see if he can get outside units to answer jobs in his shit hole district.

Congrats to the new sergeants! Are they going to make Captains or Lieutenants any time soon? The shortage is obvious as we have visitors filling in every day.

02:55 am The order did not come from Gene Williams or Dana Alexander. The order came from the First Deputy, believe it or not, HE still does run the Department, not you guys in TRU.

You guys do nothing at any given scene but stand around with your hands in your pockets and ask the district guys for information so your Sergeants can justify your 2 hour lunches on paper. If thats the help you refer to, then keep it!!!

The biggest problem we have is not just the manpower shortage, it's tying the hands of the police on the street. You have to justify every stop you make. You can't DC someone anymore on your complaint. EDGE missions are history. You can't violate the citizen's rights, even though they are a POS gangbanger, without getting a CR#. The problem doesn't exist with the police, it exists with the politics that tie our hands. Daley doesn't want to offend the citizens, but wants crime brought down. Take the leash off the police and let them do their job. Then and only then will crime come down. In the last 10 years Mag lites are prohibited, pepper spray can't be used without filling out all kinds of forms justifying the use. You better have damn good reason for laying hands on somebody. Why don't we just put flowers in our holsters and use nerf clubs instead of asp's and nightsticks. But go bust you rear to lower crime. Raise the white flag. We have lost more than the battle, we are losing the war. Thanks to our Mayor. But he will blame the police and get re-elected still.

Congrats to the new Sgts. Unfortunately most of them got sent to Area 2 were all those taxpayers really need and deserve all the police recources.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This is exactly why these units should be disbanded and sent back to the districts. Too many people in units that went there for the sole purpose of not having to respond to calls and now feel they are somehow above taking them. And now your complaining about how one do nothing unit should have to take calls before another..

Chicago Police Officer Murdered

An on-duty Chicago police officer died early Wednesday after a woman took his gun and shot him near a Northwest Side police station. The woman was then shot and wounded by responding officers.

A Belmont District patrol officer was fatally shot about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Belmont and Western avenues, police Supt. Jody Weis said during a press conference.

Richard Francis, 60, of an unknown home address, was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center at 2:57 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

The officer, on routine patrol, was at the scene of a “disturbance” and approached a woman. A struggle then ensued between the officer and the woman and she grabbed the officer’s service weapon and shot him, Weis said.

The woman then threatened responding officers, who shot and wounded her, according to Weis.

The officer was initially taken to Illinois Masonic in critical condition, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

The shooting happened near Belmont Area headquarters, at the 2400 block West Belmont Avenue.

RIP Officer Richard Francis

Which is the same thing the district people do, as far as lunch, i've neve had a 2hr lunch, you must be talking about the D unit. The biggest problem was downsizing TRU, they sent 6 Sgts and 90 p.o.s back to districts, that's an extra company of people that could be deployed to a hotspot and shut it down, they very rarely used to be a shooting in a DOC TRU was in, now it's a nightly occurrence in 004. Everyone wanted TRU downsized for the manpower, well what did they get? they were dispersed throughout the city, based on where they were detailed to, didn't do much to alleviate the problem did it? they wanted it they got it, now couple that with citizen and in some cases officer apathy and this is the result... sorry but you get the department you deserve.....

OT: SCS - I clicked on the link to the Tribune story about the two bike coppers who collided in the Loop. At the bottom was a comment by somebody from new York who goes by the name of "Cops Suck." His comment: "Clumsy pigs."

Nice job by the Tribune editors. What a bunch of scumbags.

if tru was worth anything they would have been the cars taking the jobs and gaurding the crime scene in 004 instead those assholes just show up want to see a couple dead bodies then they take off and go get their tvb or 1 bagger, they are fucking useless, they bring shit arrests when they are int the district and when something does happen they say, we dont fall under you and blow off a sgt lt or even a cpt they suck ass, no 022 or 005 or 003 should not be sent to 004 they fucking TRU dimwitts should be the ones who pick up the slack isnt that what they are supposed to be for anyways????

We do just the same as the next blue shirt at a crime scene. But obviously you are too stupid to realize that you are working without a contract. So keep busting your ass for the city that does not respect or backs you up. And yes TRU has been heard on the radio clearing 1As on the radio in 4. But probably you are too busy being the probationary hard charger that you are. And when you need help please go on the radio ask that TRU do not show up on the scene so that i can remain on my two hour lunch. LOL. The only way you could know that we take a two hour lunch is if you were also taking a 2hr lunch. Maybe you should ask 420 to back you up on 3rd watch.

hey lets downsize TRU to send back to the disticts more POs. How is that working? Now you want more TRU POs in the districts? Sure and I'll keep bidding out? When TRU was in a district in numbers that district was shut down on lockdown and they knew it.People would talk shit about them for locking up a guy with one bag. When pookie sees that his buddy got pimped for one bag and his car impounded for $1,200 that area would be a ghost town. Now even the unit is undermanned to meet the demands now our only priority is to back up the POs in the districts and each other. But when you need back up we'll probably the first ones there. Stay safe back each other up and go home safe.

This comment clearly underscores the mentality of many of the TRU babies. I for one have seen these worthless, no time on the job, want to be police officers in action. They have been in 004, where I work, for some time now, and they always come up short. In fact instead of helping, much of the time they just get in the way. On any scene they have been on thet stand around with thier thumbs inserted up thier asses, while 004th district officers clear the streets of the savages. When it gets ugly, they get in thier cars and drive away. Mabey they are scared. Although I did see them get an event # for an utdoor roll call on the scene of the triple murder from 79th and Kingston. That outdoor roll call was a big help.

I have news for you all, false TRP arrests will do little to curb violence, get out of your car, and challenge people on the blocks.
Or perhaps you are scared to challenge them.

Now let me chime in......A brother officer was murdered this morning and all you want to do is bitch and moan about what somebody is doing or not doing.....Grow the fuck up and act like the men and women that you are suppose to be.....There is only one thing you should concern yourself in regards to another copper, does he need my help? That's it! Back each other up!

Keep Richard Francis, his family, his friends and the 19th district in your prayers.

I pray the family of Officer Francis will make it through these difficult times. God Bless all the working police officers and their families. This is a dangerous job we perform so be aware at all times.

In regards to what's happening in 004- this is what the reverends that run this city want. Total freedom for their ilk. Drug sales, robberies, agg batts, murders, etc.I say let the 004th district burn. Stay safe and go home to your families in one piece. It would be refreshing to hear at least one of them say, "Hey, my people are killin one another with reckless abandon- it's time the police start acting like it was 1968/1969 and start kicking some ass."

I was at Mt. Greenwood park Wednesday night around 2230 hours. I see the same canine officer patroling the park, night after night. After he leaves no 22nd District cars come by. Around 50 high school kids are up at the park doing what they do. What bothers me is that we watched a group from outsider the neighborhood at the Ag school spining out in their cars. Only one accident occurred when one of the vehicles struck a parked car. Its not that 22 is lazy, they just are not there. If they are not detailed out of the district they are pulled to the east side of their own district. Thanks to the K-9 officer for stopping by when you can. Signed soccer player.
