REVAMPED 48 HOUR RULE

I haven't seen the order yet but, the Tribune reports that as a result of a class class action law suit, arrestees will have to appear before a judge within 48 hours of arrest.
Detectives were informed Thursday that suspects have to appear before a judge within 48 hours of arrest or be released. The previous practice required only that charges be approved by prosecutors within that time frame.

And the previous practice before this was that they be charged within 72 hours.
Detectives said that the change will put them under much greater pressure to assemble cases hastily.

"They're tying our hands behind our backs," said one veteran detective, who asked not to be named. "It's just one more thing to keep us from solving crimes."

I had to stop using my Stihl chainsaw during interrogations too, due to another frivolous lawsuit.

It's okay though I just bought a 12" Skillsaw,I hear the boys in A4VC are having great results with them. You should hear them scream when i plug it in,they want to confess to the Hindenberg.

PS Don't let the Loevys know

You would think to solve this dilemma they would simply cancel some inside details or reassign some of the inside supervisors, but that might make sense.

Funny, I read the case law on this and the original case where the US SUPREME COURT ruled and made the "reasonable" duration before a warrantless arrest 48 hours was back in 1975. Few newer cases but the las one was from 2000. Shit, we have been doing this wrong for 30 years!!! The city that works!

three 12 hour days sounds like a good idea
put it to a vote at roll calls and send results to the superintendent
more family time less stress
