City takes step to water meters for all
Mayor Richard Daley signaled the move toward universal metering in 2003, saying it was part of a strategy to improve conservation and better manage the precious resource Chicago has at its doorstep: Lake Michigan.......

good idea , how many domestics we go on with leaky faucets , running toilets etc. let everyone pay I built a new home in garfield ridge and my water is metered

This is just a bone that was thrown to the plumbers union - the only major labor force that openly supports the king....nothing more.

I do agree with your 1st poster - I too, am sick of seeing our finer citizens of our city getting free water, and leaving it running all the time. Surely that has to add up at some point....

lets charge them for water useage every time they bust open a hydrant with a sledgehammer,...Oh wait you cant get water out of a turnup and you cant make the "Dog" pay either. Looks like the middle class going to get screwed again

are we gonna charge the whole block for the open hydrant?

this is one of the few cities that doesn't have metered water, so no, i don't have a problem with it. i want the most wasteful to pay for ALL their waste though!

But who is actually going to pay for it? I'm pretty sure that those of us who actually live like civilized humans will pay out the ass for the people who get damn near EVERYTHING subsidized! What a great city! *vomits*
