I saw the coverage on CLTV. I could not believe when they said that was 6945 N. Clark. It looked more like 6945 S. Halsted. Look out 016--They're coming your way.

WARNING!!!!!

What you saw in 024 today could have cost NUMEROUS officers their lives.PLEASE get us more bodies. The dept will trot out their new gadgets, but the fact of the matter is it took a handful of brave, seasoned officers to attempt to secure the scene.

By the time the heavy armored reinforcements got there,we could have easily had 6-8 dead P.O.'S.

THANK GOD this time no one was shot or injured, but it is a matter of time.

It is ironic that on the day everyone is complaining about funds being cutoff to scumbag "Ceasefire" gangbangers, not word one is being spoken about our dangerously undermanned officers.

Please, please Mayor Daley,Gov Biggooeyturdonhead,or even Oprah get us some help.

W T F? WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE BEAT COPS IN ROGERS PARK RESPOND TO A HOLDUP ALARM, DRAW WEAPONS, ENTER THE BANK AND FIND OUT IF IN FACT THERE IS A ROBBERY IN PROGRESS OR NOT?

IF THE PERP CAME IN THE EMPLOYEE DOOR, WAS HE AN EMPLOYEE?

DID ANYONE ASK "WHERE IS THE OFFENDER TO ANY BANK EMPLOYEE"?

SORRY, BUT THIS STORY SUCKS!

Anonymous said...

Starks said he was barricaded inside, NOT. HE GONE!!!

Nice job SUP...

Nice job letting the offender escape with the released hostages!

There are some real fine coppers working in 024.

In 024, the Sergeants probably got their first and had to hold the scene down for the P.O.'s who came 20 minutes later....

SCS / off Topic :

Why is President John Pallohusky of OUR Union working in Area 4 on the 1st Watch when he is supposed to be ASSIGNED FULL TIME to the PBPA with our dues ???

Anonymous said...

THE MAIN REASON THE OFFENDER ESCAPED WAS VERY SIMPLE.

024 is a very large District and at any given time has maybe 5-6 people available for jobs, kinda scary for the taxpayers.

Northside Dist's NEED to demand more personnel,it is a miracle that nobody died.

This should be a learning experience for all parties involved, because an ORGANIZED CREW,ala L.A. could destroy a complete watch in a matter of minutes.

When the smoke settles this should be used as a invaluable learning tool.

Here is a novel idea how about allocating less $$$$ for toys like ohhhhhhhhhh cameras and just hire more P.O.'S.

typical monday morning quarterbacking....

a loan officer who doesn't normally work at the bank let the goof in....in the confusion/panic- the bank guard told people to run- one group ran upstairs, one group out the front door and another to the basement-no group knew where the other group was or where the offender was- who apparently realized he had bungled and took off after a few minutes...the people inside the bank were calling out and described themselves as hostages- hence the caution with the scene...

the 24th district coppers did a great job, it was nice to see we really have a copter but disappointing that it arrived after the news copters did...

as for letting the offender escape with the hostages- that didn't happen- he was probably gone before the police even got there...

amazing how quick people are to trash the police- especially other police- you should be happy no one was hurt, especially the coppers, and leave it at that.

Thank you for the insight as to what happened in 024. I had thoughts of not publishing the second guessing comments but since they weren't personal attacks I allowed them.

nothing personal meant-it just might be better if we spent less time beating each other up and more time supporting each other

"North Side Districts need to demand more personnel"

I guess there are too many empty seats at Starbucks.

First off, let's get it right. The name of the governor of Illinois is NOT Biggooeyturdonhead. His name is Blowjobbitch.OK?
Second, I don't know what the exact time the bank robbery in 024 occurred but if it was around 0900 and a week later when school was in session at least half the cars would have been on school crossings.

Well, our helo is at 95th and the lakefront, the news choppers are up there already, geez, do you always have to find something negative? Our copter was able to send live feed video right to the command van of areas of the building that the snipers couldn't see, so it was great. The helo guys on days start at 1000, the incident happened at 0940 or so, so I think the response was pretty good considering the helo unit wasn't even on duty when the situation started.

When is the last time anybody in the command van caught a crook? If this had happened in one of the single digit southside districts, it would have involved a handful of real coppers and maybe a dog or two going through the bank, finding nothing. Then a flash message, some notifications and a case report. Let's get back to basics!

Amen.... While these blogs (scc as well) had the best of intentions when they started, they seem to have become a sounding board for every internet tough-guy know-it-all who seems to thrive on attacking their fellow officers. If anyone has any question about why CPD cant seem to come together on anything, all they need to do is read these blogs.

What a joke. Who was that bimbo in the flowing dress? You see her running in the street behind a squadcar.

Anonymous said...

I would have to agree with you, "anonymous" (9:50pm).
On the Southside, it would have gone down a lot differently.

Why wasn't our helicopter unit on duty? Only banker's hours?????

Obviously you weren't there or you weren't listening to the radio, the helicopter unit WAS THERE

For those A-holes that love trashing other PO's that probably have 2 years on the job and 5000 war stories and who were not at the scene SHUT UP! The scum bag took off before any PO's showed up. When they did show up there was conflicting information as to how many offenders. People were terrified. There was one report that stated it was multiple offenders with body armor. Havent you learned your lesson? I would of liked to of seen you tuff guys rush into the bank and then be confronted by offenders with AK-47. What would your 9mm do then? Remember what happended in LA? Dont believe everything you read. Some of you guys remind me of the dirt bag media; passing judgment without having a clue whats going on. The worst thing is on your own brother and sisters. The scum bag did not escape with the bank employees. Good job boys in 24!

024 is full stack of people... how many people are inside in 024. we have TWO tact sects... and numerous other B.S. spots

"If anyone has any question about why CPD cant seem to come together on anything, all they need to do is read these blogs".

You are right, that is the Purpose of these Blogs so that the people who actually work the streets can can give thier opinion of what needs to be changed in this Dept.

Now you and all of the others at 35th St. who think they know better are the ones who need to read these Blogs. And if they would act on some of the suggestions posted here, they could make them selves look like great leaders!

But we know that won't happen because they have proven time and time again they do not posess the ability to think for them sevles.

AMEN!!!

To Sat Sep 01, 10:10:00 PM: I think what Sat Sep 01, 01:38:00 AM was getting at was all of the negativity that gets bantered about on these blogs which is generally counterproductive. You state that the writer is from 35th street when you have no knowledge in fact that it is true. When I read your post I thought you were on officer without a lot of time on the job. I don't mean to be accusatory rather; I am just trying to drive home the point that we diverge from that in which we attempt to attain on "these Blogs" when we negatively focus on the writer and establish an argument ad hominum instead addressing the heart of the message written.

Based upon what you have written you obviously believe that: 1) those at 35th street do not know more than those of us on the street; 2)those at 35th street cannot think for themselves, and; 3)"these Blogs" serve the purpose for us to state what changes are needed in the Department but, 35th street would never take advice from "these Blogs."

I plainly disagree on points 1 and 2. However, regarding point 3, I agree and sense your frustration. So allow me to give you some friendly advice: If you really feel that there are deep rooted problems that you as a street cop may have the answers to, then gather your information and put it together in the form of a proposal and submit it to the Research and Development Division, and copy the Superintendent. That's the protocol and how you can get meaningful suggestions taken seriously.

Do not use this situation to throw cheap shots at each other, just because of our zip codes.
This should be used as a glowing example of
1.ANGER at lack of manpower in critical street level response units
2.Dept waste,in its lack of the most basic resource, but the absolute overkill and dog and pony show of its very expensive toys
3.The highups ability to CARE or DIGEST that we have a serious problem that WILL
COST LIVES
4.Our essential need to coexist with gov't agencies and share information
5.Finally the frustration of being treated as second class citizens by City Hall, who just laugh at our inability to stick together on any topic and be lead by articulate men in positions of authority.

Hey guys think about it,we really have 1/2 the required bodies to deal with a large scale situation,we are operating on a very thin margin of error on a good day.A moron with, in all likely hood a chunk of wood gridlocked a dist and tied a mutlimillion $$$$ array of resources.

WE NEED TO LEARN, ADJUST & PREPARE

Yes, the helicopter unit was there, but there waaaaay too late. Every news helicopter beat it there. Isn't it a 24 hr. unit?

Anonymous said...

03:24-no one is disputing the helicopters presence but questioning why they aren't on duty in the first place-a 24 hour unit- read the previous entries....

Large????

6000 - 7600 North give or take the few blocks of the jungle. 1200-3200 West.

I can get from Thorndale to Skokie in about 3 minutes.

24 is a hair bigger than 15.

15= 1200 North - 1200 South,
4800-6000 West.

The Keesing Bandit says---

Submit your ideas to R and D?????

You can't be serious??

Do you think one of those clowns down there would seriously consider some else's ideas?

They keep their easy jobs by coming up with ideas, not acting on someone else's.

Now, kees me you fool!!!

The Keesing Bandit says---..."You can't be serious??"

You come on a supervisors blog where we actually attempt to exercise a mature exchange of ideas and refer to yourself as "The Keesing Bandit" and refer an entire unit as "those clowns," and you ask me if I'm serious?

Anonymous said...

The Keesing Bandit says---

Too bad I missed your comment months ago. If you think any blog should be used for mature conversation, you're missing the point.

If you can't see the little joke in this nickname, you're missing the point.

Haven't you been to R and D? They wear big red noses, have huge floppy slippers, and carry bulb horns around.

Now, kees me you fool!!!

(Do I have to explain that also?)

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
