6 students hospitalized after police spray mace

SUN-TIMES

Chicago beat officers responded to reports of a gang disturbance at Marshall High School at the 3200 block of West Adams Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Kelly Liakopoulos. The officers discharged mace while in the school, she said.

Mace? I thought we used O.C. Spray, (pepper spray)

Six students were transported to area hospitals. Three went to Mount Sinai Hospital, one in “red” or “serious to critical” condition, and two in “green” or “good” condition. Three other students were transported in "green" condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, Rodriguez said.

This shit is getting ridiculous! Every afternoon one shithole public school after another. An absolute drain on manpower. Start expelling any asshole who looks hard at a teacher, administrator or security guard. Take the shit out of the system and maybe the handful that really want to learn might The sad part is that all the finger pointing and bitching by parents will concern the response by the police. Not one of the parents will take any kind of personal responsibility in the fucked up way their offspring chose to socialize.

we need to do a better job of discharging oc into groups of trouble makers.its seems we would rather blow off taking action even though spraying people with oc is a great way to disperse a hostile crowd

Suspending the students would never work. Who would be responsible for baby sitting the kids if they were kicked out? Remember, the Police and the teachers are nothing more than highly paid babysitters to be used and abused by the powers that be.

Hey, SCS, why do you have in your banner the caption about this blog being for those who have "the worst job in the Department but the money ain't bad"? It ain't true and anyone thats honest would admit it. The worst job on this Department is the patrol officer. They get stuck with all the B/S that you and I don't have to deal with. Now theres a job that sucks. This sergeant job is the easiest job I've ever had.

When we attended pre-sergeant training that was the first thing out of the mouth of almost every boss that talked to us. "Congratulations! and welcome to the worst job in the department".

I doubt very seriously that you are a sergeant. If you were, you would know the answer to your question. Sergeants are caught in the middle, and always end up doing the dirty work for the other bosses. Also, read some G.O.'s when you get a chance. Accountability usually falls squarely on the shoulders of the sergeants. When is the last time you saw a Lt. or above take time for something? With that said, I took this job and I'm willing to stand up for my guys and do what it takes to be a good supervisor. Stay safe.

hey 6:34, Of course it's easier now. Now you don't answer the radio and another Sgt. covers for you. You sit in a hole all day and don't do shit. They job is what you make it. Try actually doing what you put on your log and answering some jobs yourself... It isn't brain surgery, but when I was a patrolman, I wasn't called 20 times a night to be asked wha to do just so my name could be on the paper in case the shit hit the fan. Yes it is an easy job, but for those of us who actually passed a test and have some intelligence, we understand that shit rolls both up and down hill and we are getting covered from both directions. If you thought being a patrolman was that bad, you should have found another profession.
All stay safe

6:34 here.
Yes, I am a Sgt. And I do think it's an easy job. Far easier than when I was in blue. My men can call me as many times as they like. It's part of my job and I don't mind one bit. Now if they are calling me for stupid shit that they should know, then I tell them that. Oh, and BTW. I don't sit in a hole all day and not answer the radio. If anything I am on the radio more than I should be. I am there if my people need me and I probably handle more jobs than I should. Accountability? Doesn't scare me in the least. Does it scare you? Sounds like it. The job IS what you make of it and I love it. It's a great job, the money is good and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I don't sweat the small stuff or worry about what I can't control. And as far as doing the dirty work for a boss higher up on the food chain than I am, it ain't happening. If they want something done that is lawful and moral, I do it or direct my people to do it. If it's just something to jag the troops around or make himself look good, fuck him, he can do it himself. And I'm not afraid to tell him either. I ain't anybodys boy. Are you?

Well first of all your an idiot because you are trying to degrade the moral of the people who look up and work hard for this department. If you don't like your job stop whinning and go find some other job but I guess where ever you go you will still be a whinner and cry baby. I wouldn't work for you because you don't have the dignity to be a CPD and I wouldn't even want you to be under me because everybody under you will be the same like you.

What are you talking about? The quote "worst job" was put on there because that was hammered into us at the academy. I would then turn to the guy next to me and say "but the money ain't bad."The other saying was "sergeant is the worst job in the department but you cant be a lieutenant without it" referring to the best job.
Your first mistake is to assume that SCS is one person and your second is to assume we whine about our job. Thanks for participating though.

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
