DRUG BUST IN 008

A 56-year-old man was arrested early Thursday after police found $22 million of drugs in the vehicle he was driving.

In a SUN-TIMES article 8th district tact officers are credited with the arrest. Job well done! These officers will undoubtedly be recipients of new vehicle stop award that Deputy Superintendent Williams has spoken about.

Is there anywhere we can live??

..."beverly is getting brutal as are almost all places on the far south side. name one neighborhood that is getting better that far south. beverly, mt. greenwood (dropping much slower than beverly), and the east side and hegewisch are all neighborhoods with coppers living in them that are getting an influx of criminals and gangbangers, if not living there, then just passing through. i would not let my wife walk to her car alone on western avenue right now."...

Thats right! Haven't seen the award as of yet but Charlie Williams spoke of it at the sergeants in service. He also spoke about new awards in the making i.e. not being on the medical in a period of time( I think he said 3 years)

Excellent job.

To 04:31:00 Yes there are problems in Beverly, but since a lifting of residency is not on the horizon, it and Mt Greenwood are your two best options on the south side.

i guess mt. greenwood is the best choice on the south side right now, but talk about painting yourself in a corner

What FOP does also affects the Sgt's. Hopefully some of you will have some insightful commentary for us, and suggestions?
How goes your PBPA?

Sarge, we have been around since early December and were wondering why you never welcomed us as fellow officers aboard the blog waves. We only mention this now, as we noticed you addressed the Dispatchers blog a while back for a link and gave another good luck and well wish to a second new come blogger. Are we neglected step children? You were open with your request to Dispatch so we felt we could be open with you. We have blogged on your site but no word from you? Can we link?

After going to the Sgt. in-service training, I think it is pretty appearant that Charli Williams is being groomed for the next Superintendant. He is a much better choice than Starks.

I disagree. I live in South Shore, and I'm white. Great neighborhood, great neighbors of various ethnicities, and good response from 003rd Dist. when we have problems on the block. A well kept secret.

sure we can link,

Perhaps I don't want to live among people of other ethnicities? Ah yes, this makes you evil (if you are white)! But just maybe I don't want my life to be a big sociology experiment. People of other races are always trying to move to white areas because the crime rates are generally lower and the quality of life is higher. Is this because police and other service is better???? Hell no! Its because we strive to live in a civilized fashion. Tell me about the neighborhoods that have improved from integration and I'll gladly eat my words.

All these bullshit awards started with Mauer. Now everyone can look like Gen. Patton. Christ, they give out a dozen or more DOC awards every week! Democratic Convention Ribbon, WTO, etc., and now awards for not being on the medical and making traffic stops. All this shit negates the real heroic stuff that real cops do. But, it is part of the touchy-feely police of the new age.

Bullshit awards are just that bullshit, but when you actually do something and can't get anything that is also bullshit.
The whole Dept is about who you know!
Mauer was like a 5 star general!
In New york the awards are automatic gun/ armed robber/ homocide etc... You can look at a PO and see they work or don't work

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
