Lt’s Promotion Exam:

UPDATE 20 September 07
One year ago on 16 September 2006 the first part (written qualifying portion) of the Lt’s exam was administered. This upcoming 23 September 07 will mark three months since the Re-Test was conducted. As of this date the City has not issued any results or provided any information as to the status of the examination despite our inquiries. Through our attorneys we have brought this to the attention of the Federal Court appointed overseer. In addition, I have recently spoken with some Aldermen and requested that they make an inquiry into the status of this examination. We intend to stay focused on this situation and demand that the City, either issue the results or at the very least provide factual information as to the reason for the delay and the status of the examination.

This so-called testing process is not only an insult to our members that have put forth the effort in preparing for this examination, but further serves to demoralize our sergeants who serve as the first line of supervision for the Department.

As soon as the results come out the law suits will follow. This test was for nothing and will be thrown out. The way I see it is the city will give us 2 choices promote off the old list until a new test is given or permitt all positions to be appointed like the captains. The majority will opt for # 2 and the city wins. Just my opinion.

Time flies when you're having fun.

I say eliminate the rank of Lt. and promote another 50 Captains
to fill in for furlos and days off
no more complaining about the lt's test everything will be on the square

My choice would be #1 not #2. You give em #2 and you'll never have a another so called test again.

This is such a farce.

If the city does throw out the test we should sue to get our $25.00 back that we paid to take it.

I would also consider sueing the city if I dumped a bunch of money on silly study groups such as Berstein - Roberts Also for the law books / directives.

Save your receipts!!

Being that we paid to take this test, don't we have an expectation to see the results in a timely fashion? Let's sue on these grounds. I don't remember it saying anywhere that it was a $25 donation.
