THANKS!!!

I was at the “Meeting” a damn joke. The banquet hall at Home Run Inn was SMALLER that the PBPA basement meeting hall. There had to be 100 people (70% of them RETIRED) PACKED in like sardines.

To say the least.. everyone had a ROTTEN time, many people just left without eating.

If you didn’t make it.. don’t worry you didn’t miss anything. The same song and dance.
In regards to the LTs test; the city is still sitting on it’s hands. Nothing will be done until a new superintendent is made.

No new news. They didn't have anything to tell us. Kind of what I expected.

QUESTION"

If we were to decertify the SGTs PBPA in an attempt to go FOP (our OWN lodge of course) would we lose our current contract?

Anonymous said...

What contract?

It's expired.

one more class of lieutenants will be made from the old list , the dept is short about 15 lt.'s
class will start in jan or feb 2008 no more captains will be promoted from old list

As of today's date, the Department is down 19 lieutenants. The budgeted number is 275 and we're currently at 256. At the end of October another Lt will be forced out because of age. That puts the number at 20 down. This does not include any elective retirements between now and the end of the year.

(FYI. . . If you ever want to know the true number of any given rank, don't use the Business Objects reports in iclear. Instead, go to the Alpha/Star Inquiry and run a citywide search by title code. It's 9173 for lieutenants.)

Unfortunately, nothing will be done until a new superintendent is picked. Starks wants to promote off the old list to get some of his people in, but has been turned down buy the powers that be (Thank God!!).

The Department promoted short in February (only went to 270) because they did not want that idiot Zelitsky in 011 making lieutenant. Apparently he was next out on the list. Thus, don't expect anyone else to make if of the old list unless the new one is really screwed up beyond repair.

Re-read the question dipshit. We would have OUR OWN Lodge as in:
"CHICAGO POLICE SERGEANT'S LODGE #10" It would be the same local Chicago Police Sergeant's Association ie; Pallohusky/Cosgrove running the lodge NOT LODGE #7 / Donahue and Co.

The FOP has a stronger voice in Washington and Springfield. The PBPA does NOTHING for us. We pay them $43,000 a year for NOTHING. Ask BUSH or Blagojevich if they know who the PBPA is and they don't have a clue.

The city still must recognize the contract which expires 30 June. The question is would that contract be null and void if the PBPA is decertified.

at the police board meeting (same time as PbPa) a CR Number was requested against Sgt G. Majercyk and Sgt Mike Voight for violating Rule 54b that bars supervisors (sgt and above )from belonging to an organization FOP Lodge 7 that represents the Rank and file in labor negotiations. Sgts Majerczyk and Voight wear two hats trustees on the board for FOP and diciplining the men under them a obvious conflict of interest watch and see if they are told to resign from FOP or take a leave of absence

If that's true, that would mean that the results from the 2006/2007 test wouldn't be released until after that because the minute they release the results, the old list is void. I suspect that the two lists will be held side by side to determine which list has more of the people they want on it before they decide to release the new results.

Why? Because you didn't get any free pizza? Wouldn't it be easier just to put your uniform on and say you are making a pickup from the desk. (Pooch move by the way)
I'm not their superfan but I think they did a nice job trying to block exam scam 2007. The judge stuck it to us. The "throw out the baby with the bath water" approach doesn't make any sense. We elected the union reps. If we were FOP, the same people would have run and been elected. The PB&Pa or national FOP do zero in terms of local politics. The people we elect, regardless of their affiliation, are to blame if we get less than deserved. If you don't like the union, vote out the people not the union. No sense starting from scratch.

This is the same nonsense spewed by a certain detective (WH) who can not get over the fact that there is no mechanism to remove an elected trustee who is later promoted. These two sergeants do not vote on any contractual issues only fraternal issues. Sergeants and above are members of the lodge. State Police have members in their lodge to the rank of captain. This whole disciplining and negotiating the contract of the rank and file is nothing but a smoke screen to advance the agenda of certain D2A members who wish to do nothing but divide and conquer.

********************

The $43,000 goes for legal defense (for attorney's if needed for member) that we hardly use anyway.

We would get a better rate from FOP or just about any other union.

I was at the Sgt's Meeting last Thursday. John Gallagher the
Executive Director stated that if we they kept with conservative investments the pension fund would be broke in 30 years. (Approximately 2037)

Therefore, it was more important to invest in higher yielding / high risk funds such as this. Also, we and the city must eventually pay more into the fund.

You know what asshole? For the $25.00 we pay in dues we should get some scraps thrown our way.
You call the PBPA and more than half the time it's the answering service because our president is busy working AREA 4-midnights.

You are wrong on both your assumptions detective. You asked for a yes or no answer and I provided the one that you didn't want to hear so you resort to insults and accusations. Your problem has always been with Mike Voight because he was made meritorious. You lump Majerczk in it too because you have a problem with sergeants who won an election and were then promoted. As far as the Rules and Regulations go, neither sergeant/trustee sit on any committee that is involved in the negotiations of contract for rank and file members.

post rule 54b on this site and let the readers decide.......

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
