CICERO COMMANDER ARRESTED BY CPD

A reader informed me that Commander Wesley Scott (back row, middle) was arrested last night in Englewood, by TRU, for misdemeanor POC. I waited to see if it was reported in the paper before posting. It appears that the Cicero Police Department announced commander Scott's arrest right away. News Affairs only confirmed the arrest.
A trailblazing and high-ranking Cicero police commander was arrested Sunday on Chicago's South Side on a misdemeanor drug charge, authorities said.

Wesley Scott, who was profiled in a 1988 Time magazine article on racism in some of Chicago's near west suburbs, rose from being Cicero's first black police officer two decades ago to his appointment in June 2005 as the town's first African-American patrol police commander.

Cicero town spokesman Dan Proft said Scott, a 21-year veteran, was taken into custody by Chicago police officers. He said he believed Scott, 47, was off-duty at the time.... (more)

Rumour has it this guy has previously filed beefs against two different law enforcement agencies

A Quasi arrest for a joint(Blunt)is not worth all the trouble this great TRU arrest is going bring. Heck, anybody who doesnt work behind a desk or is a dog knows anything less than .5 grams of weed gets SOL by the ASA in court.

Oh you just couldn't pass up an opportunity to take on shit on the TRU guys. For your information, and all the know it alls who Monday morning quarterback somebody else's arrest, here are a few facts to consider.

The coppers stopped the guy for traffic.

He rolls down his rear window while making his stop.

The offender jumps out of his vehicle and approaches the police.

The police order him back to his vehicle but he continues toward them and reaches toward his back pocket (maybe to get his wallet or not).

He has yet to identify himself as a police officer.

The officers place him against the car and conduct a pat down and they detect a strong oder of cannabis emitting from the vehicle.

They search the vehicle and recover a misdemeanor amount of cannabis.

Offender is placed in custody.

An Rd# is obtained for 1811 and he now identifies himself.

By the way, this guy has a law suit against the department for harassement from a prior encountrer.

So, Mon Jan 28, 03:52:00 PM, if you want to spout your opinion and dish out your expert advise the first thing you need to do is get a fucking clue!

I've known this guy for 15 years. No one below the rank of commander in Cicero is crying about it. In fact, it is a great source of amusement to them.

Its really getting old, the way a lot of people rip TRU for going the job we all swore we would do. Do you really want an ass like this to be a policeman. You dont like TRU, fine just shut your hole and go back to workin a park car and reading your paper.

The guy in the back row middle getting pinched for weed, what a surprise. In Englewood!!

.5 grams of cannabis maybe SOL in Cook County court, but it’s also 3+ hours in overtime for that officer in court and one step closer for a bad cop to be removed from the streets. Job well done! Not a big fan of TRU, but they did it right. Now I hope the bosses will back these officers. Time will tell.

TRU lets see, so you never dealt with an asshole before. Put him in the back of your car, call his chief let him know how this officer acted! Then let him go! He is a police officer, just as good as any in TRU!!! We have enough people out there who hate us, now we are arresting other cops!TRU wake up weed under 2.5grams unreal I would never bring that in!!!!

Not if your a police officer, the ASA will not SOL the case and will prosecute to the case to the best of their ability, just because it is a cop.

You my friend, and I use the term litely, are a disgrace to every officer who ever put on a uniform.

You my friend, have been so tainted by the crime in this city that you are starting to think like them.

You my friend, would rather blame the police for doing the right thing then the cicero officer for doing the wrong thing.

You my friend, are dead wrong when you try put this guy at the same level of professionalism as TRU officers.

You my friend, must have let a lot of people go in your career if you dont believe in locking people up for 2.5gms or less which goes against the oath you took.

You my friend, are a disgrace to every officer who has gotten hurt or even worse on this job.

You my friend, are not my friend, but I'm sure you have made many other friends during the course of your career as you cut them loose.

You would'nt integrity if it hit you in the ass.

Anyone who defends this piece of shit copper is an absolute asshole! Anyone who takes the side of this mutt over our own guys is fucked up beyond belief.
I just rejected a comment by someone called "hater". According to "hater" the credibility of our guys, TRU or not, should be in question. This jag-off doesn't question the pot smokin, Englewood cruisin Mr. Clean's credibility. Mr. Clean already has a law suit against members of the CPD and after hearing his attorney on channel 7 I'm sure another one is in the hopper.
Your anti-police comments aren't welcomed here. Post that shit somewhere else.

I'm assuming Cicero PD will make the commander piss. I'd like to know the results....and who was watching him when he gave the sample.

Where are these police haters getting this .5 grams bullshit from? Granted the weight wasn't much, 1/6th of an ounce (according to the Trib) or 4.7 grams, but the weight isn't the issue. The issue is this guy fucked up and is not only a policemen he is a commander of police. If we as policemen are judged at a higher standard than the average citizen then the threshold should be even higher for our bosses. Good job by those guys on the arrest. They will need our support because this righteous boss will probably file a suit against them as he has in the past against CPD officers.

I have to say, originally I was in shock for two reasons-1. That Commander Scott would get arrested for POC and 2. That Chicago would actually lock another copper up! There are a lot of variables here. First of all, he is a grown man and a sworn in police officer who should have never been in this position in the first place. Basically 100% his fault and not the TRU units fault! Secondly, on the job and in my personal life, if someone acts like a goof then you treat him like a goof- and in this case he acted like a goof!
Thirdly, I know that Chicago and Cicero often work together on things and a stupid action by a goof should not and probably will not effect their relationship! THere are alot of good guys on both sides and sometimes you have to do what you have to do! NOt that it is morally right but if the goof would have handled the stop differently he probably would have caught a break!

CPD did Ciceros dirty work.Cicero couldnt just get rid of ray ray cause he will file a suit against them. They knew his MO and tipped of TRU and bingo, problem solved.

Which is exactly what this arrest was not.... it was not quasi. and it was on film in the gas station, oh, and the guy was a jagoff, sorry he goes to jail.

The idiot would have sued them either way, so the best course of action would be an arrest.

Can anyone find what is the difference on the uniform with one of the exempt member?

Commander cannabis is not sporting his tie clasp."A gig for CC"

This guy should have known better.
Jeez, one of six commanders in a small dept. and you throw it all away to smoke a goddamn joint.
Whether the town of Cicero chooses to shitcan this guy's career or not, I don't feel any sympathy for him. Every adult has to make decisions as to what's important, and what's so not worth getting involved in. He obvious chose marijuana over his career. I guess he can choose it full time now.

Its not that people dont like TRU....people don't like the effect that TRU has on 2 year wonders....Ive seen numerous well-intentioned, hard working young coppers that were respectful and eager to learn head off to TRU....after 6 months in the unit, you are lucky if they grace your presence with a nod. THAT is the problem many of us have with TRU...same as sos and, sadly, tact, now that even that has become a spot solely dedicated to keeping nephew johnny off of midnites... I respect TRU and the work that is done over there, but respect is a two way street... these TRU kids act like they have been promoted, and that's a real problem.

Being a Cicero PO it's hard for me to see how this commander could have been guilty of this crime knowing his personality and character, however, who know's what goes on behind closed doors.

With that being said, if he pisses hot than it is what it is, but if he's clean than there is a bigger issue at hand regarding the arrest. Only the parties involved really know what happened that night, not the media or supervisor and officers of either department.

We can make comments and Monday morning quarterback (guilty as charged) but until the facts are proven let's not hinder the relationship between Chicago and Cicero due to an isolated incident.

There are good policemen on both sides of the fence.
Both departments have faced there share of scrutiny due to corrupt idiotic cops.

Commander Scott was promoted to his appointed position after failing the Sgt.'s test several times, failing staff and command school and pissing hot for cocaine several times. Cicero
new the problem and promoted him anyway. This is like the titanic deliberately aiming at the ice burg.
Scott claimed once that if he was ever demoted to his hard rank of patrolman he would retire. He might not get that option, time will tell?

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
