WEIS PHILOSOPHY

Jody Weis was given the "opportunity" to spell out his philosophy on policing before the city council.

"Right now, I don't see any radical changes coming about," said Weis, outlining his policing philosophy at length for the first time. "I say that because if you measure a police department in a normal way -- is crime going down? -- Chicago passes the test. Crime has gone down consistently for the past five or six years, which is an incredible accomplishment. I don't want to do anything to mess that up. What I want to try and do is build upon that."

"Supervisors who let minor rule violations slide are making a mistake"

"Supervisors will be on the hook when things go wrong with an officer"

"I am going to be looking for that sergeant and say, 'How did that happen? Where were you in all of this process? You are a manager and you should have been taking care of that young officer."
............(entire story)

"you should be taking care of that young officer"
Like THEY took care of that Polish/
American PPO in 025 years back when he got that double-sawbuck shoved in his hand.
Everyone of u whore bosses that signed off on his getting fired should rot in hell. All the graft,
theft that was going on, including matt the rat being up to his neck
in mob gambling, and uz had to ruin
that kid's life.
I'd like to spit in all your whore faces......

Where was I?

Logging one of my other cars from my log that is two pages long.

Inside doing 3 CR numbers

Doing a seat belt mission out of my sector

Going to my 4th request for a supervisor

How bout holding the wrong doer responsible for his own action(s).
We can't be everywhere

How bout getting more sgt's on the street out of HQ's and these specialized,"ELITE" units. If you're short sgt's in districts on a daily basis, don't take em from another district, take em from an inside unit. Total mismanagement of manpower.

TRU sgts don't have to worry about this!

Zero Tolerance eh?

As usual, accountability doesn't apply to anyone above the rank of Sgt. or for that matter...nothing happens to the the clout baby sgt's who were in those "ELITE" units that started this whole mess.

Check out Trinity United Church of Christ web site

http://www.tucc.org/home.htm

Really scary!!!! Interesting that this is the church that Obama attends...

Subject: Obama's church

Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.

Obama's church:
Please read and go to this church's web site and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their web site, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa.

No where is AMERICA even mentioned. Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!!!

Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.

Are you aware that Obama's middle name is Hussein? Strip away his nice looks, the big smile and smooth talk and what
do you get? Certainly a racist, as plainly defined by the stated position of his church! And possibly a covert worshiper of
the Muslim faith, even today.

This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!
I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers.
This is why it is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends.

To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is concerning.

“All too often, a sergeant or lieutenant may say, ‘That’s not a big deal. We’ll let that go.’ It may be a very minor violation. But, that does sometimes set the tone that . . . misconduct is gonna be condoned or accepted. . . ."

In my 21 years on the Job, that scenario has never happened. Unless the PO was sponsored by an Alderman was some Exempts Kid, nephew/niece etc. The oly thing that was let "go" was the Officer losig time because of suspension or even being terminated for some of the silliest shit. Because the Supervisor has a hardon& wanted to be an a-hole..

I am utterly amazed that police officers have been fired to avenge a supervisor's hardon for a police officer. How is that fair? Have you guys ever heard of an unfair labor practice lawsuit? Contrary to popular belief police officers have rights. Police officers have Constitutional Rights, the protection of labor law,the Uniform Peace Officers Act,Garrity Rule,Weingarten Rule, collective bargaining rights and so on.

You CAN NOT BE FIRED LEGALLY FOR A SUPERVISOR HAVING A HARDON FOR YOU OR FOR BEING ACCUSED OF SOMETHING.

I find it hard to believe this could have ever occured to any policeman/woman but judging by your new Superintendent's comments it is more than possible.

What kind of silly shit have police officers been fired for based upon a supervisor's hardon? Was there litigation and how did it end? Is this a predominant problem on the CPD? Does the CPD union provide competent legal assistance? Is there a need for competent legal representation?

I urge civil litigation immediately to rectify any wrongs.

It is awesome to see that the CPD finally has enlightened leadership. This guy seems like a renaissance man compared to his predecessors. SAC Weiss appears to have set very attainable priorities: managerial and supervisory accountability, a new academy, and recapturing the trust of the public. If you look anywhere in the city from Old Norridge to Mount Greenwood and back to Austin, most citizens who aren't related to coppers have a low opinion of CPD officers. Recapturing the trust of the pulic will be vital. I think SAC Weiss will probably surprise the CPD with a promotional process that is far more transparent. Federal agencies have had to respond to court judgements alleging egregious violations of FLSA and EEOC laws. As a result this guy will more than likely come up with better promotional processes. Not perfect but better than those in place now. As a result of his appointment, tryouts for the SWAT Team were the most equitable and fair they have ever been. When I was on the job I remember seeing a 300 pound sniper on the old HBT. You can bet SAC Weiss will bring in a former FBI or other Federal 1811 official to run IAD and also to be his chief of staff. An outsider with experience in sucessfully fighting public corruption has to be brought in to give a fresh set of eyes to examine this very real problem and come up with some winning solutions. You can also bet Charles Williams will be a winner. I predict he will end up as the 1 st Deputy or at worse retain his position. He has been vetted and cleared by the US Attorney's Office, the FBI, DEA, and ATF for many years. In those arenas his reputation is superlative. Plus he has a public persona that will be valuable in any efforts to engage black and latino residents in Chicago. GOD Bless the CPD

Yeah!!! All you sgts are responsible for me when I screw up. I have 28 years on this job and should know right from wrong by now but who cares, you're responsible!! Seriously though, doesn't this kind of sound like the,"it's not my fault I screwed up" reaction we have going on in society where nobody is responsible for their own actions? What ever happened to taking responsibility for one's own actions. It's going to be an interesting next four years people...

It's Not All Real said...

I'll hold back on any judgment on our new boss. For myself, I don't buy into the bullshit some are speaking that he's just another Fed looking to screw everyone over.

An outsider with no political ties just may be exactly what this department needs. A "wait and see" approach is the only way to take this for now.

I'd really love to see him limit merit promotions to one bite of the apple. That in itself would do a lot to improve morale.

Mr. "know it all fed" the new SWAT tryouts were motivated by the racial make up of the unit, not the new sup. Also, the City runs the hiring and testing process not the CPD; CPD impliments the policy of the City.

I love how everyone thinks this guy is going to change the promotional process to make it more legit and less political!! Ha ha ha ha....Are you soft? He is a Fed. Do you know anyone that works in any federal agency? The bosses have to sell their soul to the devil to get promoted. It is worse there than here... He was the SAC, but he was also the Assistant Deputy Director and the Director of Adminstration and the FBI's version of IAD... You don't get jobs like that when you don't know how to play the game.

Cynic, that I am, it will be the same smoke n mirrors/pony n dog show as usual, and as usual shit will still roll down hill right on to the p.o.s and sgts. in the patrol division.

If they try and hold me accountable because one of these idiots that they hired screws up, there will be hell to pay. If they are going to hold me accountable for my patrol officers, I should at least get an opportunity to dicide who I have working for me.

There is nothing "scary" about Trinity Church! There is not ONE WORD on their website that declares the church to be "off limits" to whites! The church affirms that it centers it's attention to the black community (which surrounds it) and it's commitment to Africa (nothing wrong with that...how many of you Irish wear those silly crown rings that are made in Ireland?) I think it's great that ANY GROUP can be proud of it's roots and send some of it's good fortune from this country back home, be it Mexico, Russia, Poland, Chechnya, whereever. Pride is NOT a negative trait. If you don't want to vote for Obama, then don't. I personally have less of a problem seeing a biracial Christian running this country than a Mormon.
To each his own...but don't get on this blog and try to paint a "sinister agenda" behind Obama. Nobody says anything about how Rudy G. left his wife in Gracie Mansion while he ran around with another woman...his own kids won't even come out and campaign for the man, they despise him that much, but everyone talks about his "leadership." Leadership begins in the home, and it would appear that Obama has quite a stable, loving home. well supported by an intelligent wife and two well behaved children.
He's been openly candid about past drug experimentation, unlike Clinton AND "W". I don't see much in the way of competition for the man in his quest for the white house.

Dear "Thu Jan 10, 07:21:00 PM"

You are clueless-you defend Obama but in doing so take your turn and diminish a symbol dear to the ethnic Irish by your bashing?

You are no better than the Obama hater.

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
