I would like to ask you and the other Sergeants on here if the decision you made to become a Sgt was worth it, and has your viewed changed of your blue shirts? Is it also worth being the "middle" man/woman between the brass and cops?

Anyone hear about the meeting at 35th street today?

Commander says 12 TRRs in a year or 20 CRs in a 5 year period.. you will be put into a program. Also, its cause to kick you off the tac team, SOS etc. It doesn't matter if the CRs are exonerated or not sustained.

Was told by an exempt about the meeting at 35th street and he stated that this comes from the city law offices. Despite the disposition of the CR's 20 in 5 years is all it will take to dump you from a team and even place you in the BIS. I heard 10 TRR's in a year but above comment states 12.

Pension Fund insolvency should be a topic up and running at all times. We can't get any info from Unions or city so maybe the grapevine...

Somebody needs to run with this. Personally, I don't give a FF anymore. This is more management crap that needs to be exposed. For the 11th period three spots for Sgt were opened for bid in 151. Did anybody out there bid and actually think they had a chance at these spots? Think again. Until traffic was recently put in the Patrol Div, all spots there had been clout spots. The bids open for a new 4th watch traffic "TRU" unit. 3 Sgts and 25 PO's. The CO tells the 3 most senior Sgts already in traffic to bid for those spots. They do and are all successful. Not one of them will leave their existing spots in Loop Traffic, Detail Unit, and Admin. This way they can say the spots are filled, which is only on paper, and they can pick 3 from the 'chosen' to "detail" in to work in those 3 spots.(which hasn't been done yet) What a f**king joke. Hello Union??

The writing is on the wall, has been for some time, it's a shame, this was a great job. Now, these guys should just show up, do paper, make it to lunch and make it home. This city and department no longer want us to be the real police, they want armed clerks, well, I think it's time they get what they have been looking for. With this latest revelation concerning crs and trrs, the arrests will surely plummet, even in units. I can't wait till the body count spirals out of control. It's really a shame....

Bad idea. The shitheads will find out about this and file false complaints about specific hard working police who are on their ass. Typical knee jerk reaction, but the kicker is this is in response to their chosen ones "SOS" being allowed, by them ,to run rampant and unchecked.

On a side note...Just what exactly do our $50 a month union dues get us? Not even a website? I guess it just pays the mortgage on that new clubhouse they so desperately needed.

Retired for 9 years. What's a TRR?

The rank of sgt sucks. The pay increase is about the only incentive.
You are the middle person and need to choose your battles wisely because you still work closely out there with the blue shirts. Keeping them safe and out of most trouble is the #1 priority.

Where's the counter? Is it pblically viewable like scc's site?

Totally off topic, does anyone have any idea when Part 2 of Lt test is going to be? Roberts web site lists classes through the end of the year, which would put Part 2 in January.

Our site counter doesn't give, you the reader, the same info SCC's counter shows. We will tweak and try improve the site on a daily basis.
Thanks You,
The Staff of SCS

As far as taking up the stripes, I never envisioned that I would be a high paid babysitter. The pay is definitely the incentive and you must be a Sgt before Lt., which is the ultimate job on this department. Yes, you do get caught inbetween upper Mgmt and the PO's, but as long as you are awre that it is your job, there should be no problem.

Please keep in mind that this is an open blog
that can and is read by people other than Chicago Police Officers.
