OFF-DUTY P.O. MURDERED

Murdered behind his home after returning from work.

“A family in there has lost a husband and a son. Our police family has lost a police officer and the City of Chicago has also lost a young police officer,” Cline said.

The officer was identified this morning by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Jose Vasquez, 34. After being found in the back of his building, authorities took him to Stroger Hospital of Cook County several blocks away but he was pronounced dead about 2:15 a.m.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Vasquez and the Vasquez family.
