So since I'm about 7 yrs. from retirement, but who's counting, what states are the best to retire in regarding taxes on our benefits?

How many new Sgts are to be promoted in the first class and when is it expected to start?

New Sgts.?? Probably 100-120 in the class now forming. It should begin in about a month. Heard that at 35th the other day.

When thinking about ideas for consideration in a new contract, would it be possible to consider keeping our continuous service date for seniority? I made sgt after 18 yrs on the job. Why can't those years count? I understand the rule as it is now, even if I don't really like it, and we abide by the rules that are in place. It just seems unfair. In my sgt class there were guys with 25 yrs plus, who move to the bottom of the seniority list. Detectives keep theirs, so do firemen when they make engineer or Lt. I know that sgts with low continuous service dates won't like this idea, but I thought that I would ask. Any thoughts?

I attended my first union meeting last month and was disappointed at the low turnout but not at the way the meeting was conducted. I was impressed with those sgts. running the meeting and will continue to attend as many meetings as I can. I must admit that I was part of the problem but not any more. It's our union and important to get involved. Don't be a stranger.
