And the emphasis is to "always carry off-duty. Always." the article has suggestions for individual officer preparedness and suggestions for depatment training. There may come a time that you may be the only line of defence until the cavalry arrives.
The bottom line is to stay alert and be prepared to protect our children.

carry off duty and be arm chair quarterbacked. if a police officer would have shot this guy before he started his rampage there would have been protests against police brutality and the msm would have called for the crucifixion of the officer. sad but true.
For the life of me I cannot understand why so many of today's police officers will not carry off duty. To many of us old timers, such a state while residing in this City is unthinkable!
Gun Control is an obvious failure.Have a firearm on your person for self preservation is a God given right.The Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights further "guarantees" this "unanlienable" right.For those not well educated "to bear arms" means to have on ones person.
My family packs so fuck you Mr Daley and all the State Reps that infringe upon my rights.
Why should retired guys carry guns? If you stirred up crap while you the job, maybe you should move. Act the fool, be the fool.
